Baku Metro in late 2014 - early 2015 plans to commission an additional exit from the Elmler Akademiyasi (Academy of Sciences) station, a source in Baku Metro told Trend on Wednesday.
"As part of the construction of an additional exit from the station all the necessary work is ongoing, and in late 2014 or early 2015 it is planned to be commissioned," the source said.
The project envisages construction of four additional exits, two of which will go to the Baku State University, and the remaining two - to the roads.
Elmler Akademiyasi station is characterised by a large number of passengers because of the location in this area of the large number of universities and government agencies.
Baku Metro has been operating since since 1967 and has 23 stations. Earlier a 20-year program of Baku Metro development has been adopted. In accordance with long-term development scheme, in the future its overall network will consist of five lines compared to the current two.
