Azerbaijani insurer pays compensation to earthquake victims

Azerbaijan State Insurance Commercial Company Azersıgorta, has paid compensation worth 149,850 manat to 93 individuals who suffered damage as a result of the earthquake in the Zagatala, Balakan and Gakh regions, the company board chairman Mammad Mammadov said in an interview published on the website of the ruling New Azerbaijan party on Monday.

Overall, the company has paid 295,700 manat to 112 insurers for seven months.

Azersıgorta was included in the register of members of the Compulsory Insurance Bureau, established in accordance with the law on 'Compulsory kinds of insurance'.

The law regulates four types of compulsory insurance - real estate, liability of owners of vehicles, passenger and public liability insurance while exploiting real estate. The insurance companies started using the law on December 16, 2011.

Azersıgorta received a permission to engage in all these kinds, except passenger insurance.
The company signed 30,250 contracts on compulsory insurance of real estate within seven months of this year and collected premiums on these contracts to the sum of 1.153 million manat.

Around 29,000 contracts on house and apartment insurance to the amount of 1021 million manat and 1260 contracts on insurance of non-residential buildings to the amount of 0.131 million manat were concluded.

The official exchange rate is 0.7853 AZN/USD on Sept. 3.
