Iran's cement output amounted to 36 million tons in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year which began March 20, the managing director of Fars & Khuzestan Cement Company Esfandiar Salarvand said, IRIB reported.
Salarvand added that Iran with a total production of 66 million tons ranked as the world's fourth largest cement producer in 2011.
He went on to note that Iran plans to export 12 million tons of cement in the current calendar year.
In September, Iranian Deputy Industry Minister, Vajihollah Jafari said that Iran plans to produce 75 million tons of cement by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2013), ISNA reported.
Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari also said in August that the country's current cement production capacity stands at 74 million tons.
Ghazanfari added that the figure will reach 110 million tons by 2015.
