Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 7 / Trend A. Taghieyva /

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member-states have rich energy resources, but they are not entirely used, Turkish Development Minister Cevdet Yılmaz said at the summit of heads of ECO Chambers of Commerce in Ankara today.

He added that the regional countries must increase investments in the energy sector for the adequate use of energy resources. It is impossible to increase investments due to strengthening of cooperation between the regional countries, simplifying the conditions of mutual investments and creating good conditions to draw investments.

The minister also highlighted the role of the private sector in strengthening the cooperation among ECO countries.

The heads of chambers of commerce from Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan attended the summit.

Yilmaz also proposed creating a free trade zone between the member-states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation.
