Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 29 / Trend A. Akhundov /

The State Insurance Supervision Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance in 2012 ensured that payment was made of more than 300,000 manat. This was on account of insurance companies refusal to pay out this amount, head of State Service Namiq Khalilov told Trend on Thursday.

The insurance coverage of around 245,000 manat was ensured on the basis of insured client appeals in 2011.

Khalilov said that in 2012 the state service received more than 300 complaints about the insurance companies for the last period.

"More than 700,000 people were insured compulsorily and more than 4000 payments made in 2012," he said. "These figures are not big. There are complaints everywhere including countries with a developed insurance system."

He added that the complaints of those insured mainly focus on the evaluation of the amount of damage.

"There are almost no complaints relating to the company's refusal to pay compensation," Khalilov said.

There is one reinsurance and 28 insurance companies in Azerbaijan.

The official exchange rate is 0, 7847 AZN/USD on Nov. 29.
