Iran’s textile exports hit $24.4 million

Iran exported $24.4 million worth of textile products during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-December 20, 2012), the Fars News Agency quoted industry ministry's official Ne'matollah Mardani as saying.

The exported textile products amounted to 13,000 tons in weight, he added.

Domestic production of raw materials for the textile industry grew by 10 per cent in the nine month period, he noted.

In October, 2012, an Iranian industry ministry official said that Iran exported over $500 million worth of textile and leather products in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, 12, showing a 42 per cent rise year on year.

Regional countries as well as South America are the main targets for such products, Mehdi Eslampanah said.

More than 9770 industrial units are working in different fields in this regard including textile, clothing, leather and shoes, according to reports.

Carpet, shoes and materials of leather are among the textile products exporting to other countries.
