The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs (NCE) of Kazakhstan considers it important to create a new Customs Code within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU), Talgat Doskenov, a member of NCE Presidium said.

He made the remarks at a press conference in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, on May 16.

"Customs regulation is one of the problematic spheres for integration. The legal and regulatory framework has become more complicated, as two customs codes (Kazakhstan and Customs Union) are currently in force," Doskenov said.

He stressed that Kazakhstan holds one of the last positions in the Doing Business ranking on the International Trade index, due to the difficulties in its customs regulation.

"We addressed our partners asking to take into account these nuances. There is a need to work out a new Customs Code, which we hope will include the advances of Kazakhstan and the international practice," Doskenov said.

He went on to add that Kazakhstan's National Chamber of Entrepreneurs insists on switching to the electronic document circulation.

Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus will sign an agreement on EAU on May 29, in Astana. The agreement is to enter into force from January, 2015.

The trade turnover between the three countries has increased by 88 percent since 2009 and hit $24 billon, while the export of processed goods from Kazakhstan has doubled.
