NATO's "multimedia area" has opened at the academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent office of the NATO liaison officer in Central Asia said.

The project was implemented as a result of cooperation of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Defense and the Tashkent office of the NATO liaison officer in Central Asia.

The "multimedia area" will provide students and teachers of the military high school with the literature on regional and international security, international relations and military science.

While providing an access to the advanced research in the field of international security, NATO is seeking to increase its contribution to the further modernization and reforms of the military education in Uzbekistan, Alexander Vinnikov, the representative of the NATO liaison officer in Central Asia, said.

An office of the NATO liaison officer in Central Asia opened in Tashkent in August 2013.
Uzbekistan has been participating in the NATO program "Partnership for Peace" since July 1994.

Uzbekistan has been participating in NATO research activities since 1993. Currently, four joint research projects are being implemented.
