Uzbekistan's GDP growth rate to reach 7.8% in 2016

Uzbekistan’s GDP growth rate will reach 7.8 percent as of 2016 according to the calculations of the country’s government, Rustam Azimov, the country’s first deputy prime minister, said at a session of the upper house (Senate) of the Uzbek parliament Dec. 13.

"According to the calculations, the country’s GDP growth rate will reach 7.8 percent as of 2016 compared to 2015,” he added. “Industrial production is expected to increase by 6 percent, the agricultural sector – by 6.9 percent, retail trade turnover - by 14.2 percent, capital investments from all sources of funding - 9.6 percent."

He added that inflation will reach 5.5 - 5.7 percent as of 2016.

The country’s government planned to ensure GDP growth at 7.8 percent, industrial production - 8.2 percent, agricultural production - 6.1 percent, the volume of capital investments - 9.6 percent in 2016.
