Azerbaijan to offer Saudi Arabia several investment projects

Azerbaijan will offer Saudi Arabia several investment projects.

The proposals will be presented during the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.

The commission’s next – fifth – meeting is planned to be held in Baku in October 2017, a diplomatic source told Trend July 14.

The proposals cover transportation, agrarian, construction and ICT sectors.

A big delegation, which includes representatives of both state structures and private sector, will come to Azerbaijan from Saudi Arabia.

Currently, the two countries are working to develop trade, economic and investment relations.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) plans to launch a direct flight from Azerbaijan to Saudi Arabia in September 2017. This will increase the number of tourists coming to Azerbaijan from Saudi Arabia. Moreover, the number of Azerbaijani citizens wishing to visit holy sites in Saudi Arabia will increase.

Following the meeting, it is planned to sign a protocol, which will cover such areas as agriculture, healthcare, tourism, information and communication technologies, construction, social security, media and others.

According to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, the country’s trade turnover with Saudi Arabia totaled $6.05 million in January-June 2017, increasing by 25.9 percent as compared to the same period of 2016.
