Over 8,000 tenders banned in Turkey in Jan.-June 2017

In January-June 2017, 9,853 companies announced holding of 71,094 tenders in Turkey, the country’s Electronic Public Procurement Platform told Trend.

According to the Electronic Public Procurement Platform, 6,831 tenders were canceled in the country in January-June 2017.

"During the reporting period, 77,663 contracts were signed in Turkey," the Electronic Public Procurement Platform said.

A decision was made to ban 8,296 tenders in the country during the reporting period.

Of the total number of bans for holding tenders, the Turkish Prosecutor General’s Office banned tenders in 3,516 cases, while the country’s interior ministry – in 1,247 cases.

Meanwhile, as of 2016, 160,437 tenders were held by 12,299 companies in the country.

In 2016, 177,231 contracts were signed in the country.

As of 2016, 8,546 tenders were banned in Turkey.
