Agreements on future transactions signed at Central Asian Trade Forum

The agreements on future transactions worth $26 million were signed as part of the 7th Central Asian Trade Forum.

Uzbek representatives also took part in the two-day forum held in Almaty (Kazakhstan) Oct. 18-19.

According to the forum organizers, more than 1,100 heads of companies and representatives of the public sector from 18 countries of Central Asia, Asia and Europe took part in the forum.

The US ambassadors to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also attended the event. The program of the forum has included business training for the introduction of the requirements of international food safety standards.

Tajikistan’s ‘Apricot and Company’, the biggest producer and exporter of fresh and dried apricots to Russia and Kazakhstan, presented the best exhibition stand. The main organizer of the forum has been the US through the USAID ‘Competitiveness, Trade, and Jobs in Central Asia’ project.

The project is aimed at developing export potential and creating jobs in the fruit and vegetable sector, transport and logistics in five Central Asian countries. By developing the competitiveness of companies in the region and eliminating barriers to trade, the US contributes to the establishment of a sustainable and competitive private sector.
