Foreign citizens who come to Azerbaijan for a long-term stay will be able to use mandatory health insurance system just like Azerbaijani citizens, Zaur Aliyev, director of the State Agency for Mandatory Health Insurance under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, said.
He made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the “Support to implementation of the mandatory health insurance system in Azerbaijan” twinning project on Nov. 27.
“If foreign citizens come to Azerbaijan for a short-term stay, they will be able to use travel insurance, just like Azerbaijani citizens do when traveling to other countries," Aliyev said.
The State Agency for Mandatory Health Insurance of Azerbaijan began operating in February 2016. Since the end of 2016, a pilot project on mandatory health insurance is being implemented in Azerbaijan, and the project currently covers the city of Mingachevir and the Yevlakh district of the country.
