Kazakhstan to increase production, export of agricultural products (Exclusive)

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan implements a set of measures to increase the volume of exports of agricultural products, in accordance with the instruction of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, Head of the department of international integration of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Anna Semanenko told Trend.

"Current priority tasks include the stimulation of the increase of agricultural production. The volume of state support to agriculture sector in Kazakhstan increases every year. The volume of subsidies has grown 3 times in last 5 years and amounted to almost 260.5 billion tenge in 2017, for comparison in 2013 this figure was 88.6 billion tenge," Semanenko said.

She stressed that in 2017 the value of agricultural output of Kazakhstan increased by almost 2.9 percent and amounted to 4.1 trillion tenge.

"The value of production of livestock products in 2017 increased by 3.9 percent (1.8 trillion tenge), crop production - by 2.2 percent (2.3 trillion tenge). The production of food products in the mentioned period increased by 4.1 percent and amounted to 1.5 trillion tenge. The production of beverages increased by 4 percent and amounted to 299.1 billion tenge," Semanenko said.

She added that Kazakhstan continues to work on harmonizing the veterinary and phytosanitary requirements of importing countries, which will allow Kazakh farmers to supply their products to new markets.

This year, Kazakhstan officially received the status of a country free from foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMD) virus.

"Obtaining the status of a country free from FMD enables Kazakhstan to conduct a simplified procedure for negotiations with other countries, expanding potential of exports of animal and vegetable products to member countries of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which in turn will increase the export potential of our agri-industrial complex, and also positively affect the economic development and image of Kazakhstan," Semanenko said.
