Russia remains main foreign trade partner of Uzbekistan

The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan for January-June 2018 amounted to $17.7 billion, including exports ($7.8 billion) and imports ($9.9 billion). The balance of foreign trade amounted to - $2.1 billion.

Exports of energy and petroleum products increased by 78.5 percent compared to the same period last year, natural gas exports – 1.9 times, chemical products and articles made of such products – by 5.3 percent, exports of plastic and plastic products – by 18.7 percent. The volume of exports of food products increased by 58.9 percent due to an increase in exports of fruits and vegetables by 73.4 percent.

The main share in the structure of imports – 33.8 percent falls tomachinery and equipment, 11.5 percent – chemical products and products made of them.

The share of services in total volume of exports was 30.8 percent, of which 10.5 percent were transport services, and 18.4 percent - travel services.

The balance of foreign trade amounted to - $2.1 billion in January-June 2018, including -$0.8 billion with the CIS countries and -$1.3 billion with other countries.

The main foreign trade partners among the CIS countries are Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which account for 28.4 percent of foreign trade turnover. The trade partners among other countries include China, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Afghanistan, Germany, the United States, Latvia, Iran and France, which account for 33.8 percent of total foreign trade turnover.
