Azerbaijan sharply increases sale of electricity, berries

Azerbaijani companies exported non-oil products in the amount of $179 million in June 2018, which is 1.1 percent less than in the same period last year, as appeared from the Export Review published by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications.

Not taking into account the oil and gas, Azerbaijan exported in June most of all tomatoes (in the amount of $43.3 million, an increase of 6.1 percent for the year), cherries (in the amount of $26.8 million, an increase of 70.7 percent), gold (in the amount of $12.4 million, a decrease by 2.1 times), potatoes (in the amount of $9.8 million, a decrease of 11.22 percent) and polyethylene (in the amount of $7.7 million, an increase of 6.9 percent).

As for the geography of non-oil exports, the top five countries, which received the largest volume of Azerbaijani products in June, are as follows: Russia ($96.7 million), Turkey ($25.9 million), Switzerland ($12.8 million), Georgia ($8.1 million) and the Netherlands ($5.8 million).

Azerbaijani companies exported non-oil products for $846.5 million in total in 1H2018, which is 15 percent higher than in the same period of 2017.

The largest part of non-oil products exported during the reporting period accounted for tomatoes ($ 140 million), gold ($ 60.7 million), electricity ($ 54.6 million), polyethylene ($50.3 million) and refined hazelnuts ($36,1 million)

Azerbaijan has increased the export of electricity by 2.2 times, vegetables and fruits - by 20.3 percent, aluminum and products made of it - by 24.4 percent, cotton yarn - by 23.3 percent, products of chemical industry - by 4.4 percent over the year, the message says.

Russia ($ 319.9 million) took the first place in the list of the main importers of non-oil products from Azerbaijan for the first six months of 2018. Russia is followed by Turkey ($180.1 million), Georgia ($74.1 million), Switzerland ($69.3 million) and China ($23.9 million).
