Made in Azerbaijan brand to significantly increase its presence in China (Exclusive)

Azerbaijan will open two wine houses and one Azerbaijani pavilion in China by the end of this year.

Azerbaijan will open two wine houses and one Azerbaijani pavilion in China by the end of this year, the Trade Representative of Azerbaijan in China Teymur Nadiroglu told Trend.

Nadiroglu noted that this will allow to actively promote the goods produced in Azerbaijan in the capacious consumer market of China, and will have a positive impact on the level of trade turnover between the two countries.

"The opening of two wine houses in China will further improve the level of trade between the countries for this type of product, as well as promote the trade brand "Made in Azerbaijan" in the Chinese demand markets," the trade representative said.

In addition to Azerbaijani wine products, the trade representative continued, the pomegranate juices, compotes, jams, as well as tea products are very popular in China.

"Despite the fact that China is the birthplace of tea, the Chinese are already interested in varieties of black Azerbaijani tea. To date, the volumes of export of Azerbaijani tea are small, but we are working at strengthening the interest of Chinese importers and consumers in this type of our products," Nadiroglu said.

Not only domestic products and goods, but also Azerbaijani culture, tourism potential of the country and so on will be demonstrated in the new Azerbaijani pavilion, the trade representative said.

"Various events, including exhibitions in the field of culture and business will be held in the future. In general, our representative office in China is engaged not only in promoting exports, but also in attracting Chinese investments to Azerbaijan. The leaders of our countries pay great attention to the dynamic development of trade and economic relations. And at the same time, thanks to the work done by us, there is a certain interest of China in our domestic products and, in general, in Azerbaijan," said Nadiroglu.

According to the data of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, trade turnover with China amounted to almost $1.3 billion last year, which is 33 percent more than in 2016. The exports has increased by 63.75 percent to $443.8 million, and the imports has increased by 21.4 percent to $854.5 million over the year.

The chemical products, fuel, plastic and products of it were main export goods supplied by Azerbaijan to China last year. The electrical devices, equipment and spare parts, vehicles and spare parts, clothing and accessories, ceramic products, household articles were imported from China to Azerbaijan over the past year.
