Tehran, Iran, Oct. 20

Trend:

The deputy head of the Iran Export Confederation said Iran’s trade balance turned positive in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21).

“Iran’s trade balance turned positive in the first six months of this year with over $940 million trade exchanges,” Mohammad Lahooti said, Mehr news agency reported on October 20.

He added that the country’s exports to European countries have seen decline due to renewed US sanctions on Tehran.

Among neighbors, Iraq is the second large importer of Iranian goods, Lahooti said.

“New directives and detailed instructions issued from time to time have limited Iran’s exports to Iraq and Afghanistan,” he said.

He called on the government to make efforts, and remove the obstacles, facilitate exports to neighbors in the era of US sanctions.
