Special agriculture robots (agrobots) will be used in the agriculture sector in Azerbaijan in the coming years, Adviser to Agriculture Minister for Innovations Shabnam Mammadova told Trend.
She said the introduction of the agrobots is expected for the next three years.
“The Ministry of Agriculture is working on a new concept involving the application of new technologies and innovations in this area,” she noted. “This technological innovation has a number of advantages that will raise the level of the agriculture sector. We expect the use of agrobots in agriculture to yield positive results and increase the profit in those segments of the agriculture where they are applied.”
"In parallel, an automated control system will reduce the costs for farmers, increase the rural productivity and greatly improve food security.”
“The automated system is designed mainly to replace the manual work with pesticides and other types of fertilizers that are unsafe for health,” she said.
She noted that this innovative practice is widely used abroad, particularly in the Netherlands, Israel, the US and Ukraine.
“We expect that by applying such an innovative approach in the agriculture sector, we will be able to achieve high efficiency and profit,” she added.
