In the first eight months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), 1,328,702 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at Iran's Shahid Rajaee Port, Allah-Morad Afifipour, head of Iran's Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) said, Mizan News Agency reported.
Afifipour noted that 242,939 TEU containers accounted for transit freight.
He added that over 165,341 TEU containers were transshipped to other ports of Iran.
During the period, 249,149 TEU containers accounted for exports, while imports accounted for 179,652 TEU containers.
Shahid Rajaee Port has modern container terminals and equipment, and is considered the most modern Iranian port, Afifipour added.
