Exports of Iran's South Khorasan exceed $500M

In the first eight months of the current Iranian year (started March 21) almost 2,13 million tons of goods worth $512.69 million were exported through the border terminals of Iran's South Khorasan province, Davood Shahraki, the head of South Khorasan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, said, Trend reports referring to Iranian media.

Shahraki noted that there was a 3-percent increase in the province's exports in terms of value.

Sharaki said that the main export goods included cement, poultry feed, tiles, ceramics, diesel and hydrocarbons.

Sharaki noted that cement was the most exported type of goods in the province.

Afghanistan accounted for 90 percent of the exports of South Khorasan, while Iraq and Pakistan together accounted for 10 percent.

"Since the beginning of the current Iranian year, 23 import licenses were issued for the import of 1,526 tons of goods worth $3.448 million," Sharaki said.

Davood Shahraki mentioned the importance of the private sector's potential in the facilitation of providing various services at border markets, price determination and the import of live animals.

"Improving the retail sales at the border markets has been agreed with Iran's Trade Promotion Organization and the Customs Administration (IRICA) of Iran," he added.
