Turkmenistan ready to establish partnership in railway sector with Uzbekistan

Turkmenistan is ready to discuss with Uzbekistan establishing a railway connection along the Central Asia-China route, Trend reports Feb. 11 with reference to the Turkmenistan State News Agency.

Ashgabat is also ready to work together to create a corridor along Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Caspian Sea-South Caucasus route with access to European and Middle Eastern markets, the report said.

The Uzbek side was invited to explore the possibilities of using modern infrastructure of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

In December 2014, a transnational project for the construction of Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway was completed.

Via this trade route, goods can be freely transported to the countries of the Persian Gulf, the Indian Ocean and exported to Europe.

In addition, there is also Central Asia - Middle East (Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman) transport corridor project. This route will allow the countries of Central Asia in perspective to connect with the ports of the Persian and Oman gulfs by the best route.

As part of this project, the prospects for cooperation in the field of customs, transportation by road, rail and sea, as well as joint investments are being studied at the expert level.
