Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya will visit Uzbekistan from March 5-7, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Preliminarily, Uzbek Ambassador in Belgium Dilyor Khakimov and Executive Director of the Office of Secretary General of WTO, Alan Harrison, discussed the details of the upcoming visit.

Moreover, during the meeting, the parties agreed that in 2019 the WTO will hold seminars for representative of Uzbek customs service in such areas as: "Control of passengers and baggage at the airport" and "Methods for assessing the efficiency of customs control."

Last week, Deputy Director General of WTO, Alan Wolf, during the conference "Interconnectedness in Central Asia: Challenges and New Opportunities," said that Uzbekistan could join the World Trade Organization within two years.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined in the Strategy of Action of Uzbekistan for 2017-2021 the return to the process of accession to WTO.
