Trout production in Iran reached 100-120,000 tons this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), said Arash Nabizadeh, the managing director of Cold Water Fish Farmers of Iran, Trend reports via the Young Journalists Club (YJC).
He noted that due to the favorable weather conditions, trout production will increase significantly next year (starting from March 21, 2019).
He added that exporters aren’t interested in trout exports because of the growing demand for this fish in Iran.
He said that 1 kilogram of trout costs 270-280,000 rials (about $6.4-$6.6) at the fish farm, noting that 1 kilogram of trout is sold in the Iranian markets at 350-380,000 rials (about $8.3-$9).
