Blood bank centrifuges will be produced for the first time in Iran, Trend reports referring to a statement on the website of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

A contract was signed between the AEOI and the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization (IBTO) on the production of centrifuges. The contract was signed by Asghar Zarean, special adviser to the AEOI, and Ali Akbar Porfathollah, Managing Director of Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization (IBTO).

According to the contract, the IBTO has declared that it requires 50 blood bank centrifuges, which will be produced by the AEOI.

Up until now, the IBTO had purchased this equipment from abroad.

The AEOI said that it is ready to produce blood bank centrifuges by using local technologies, thereby cutting the dependence on foreign companies.

The IBTO uses centrifuges to fractionate the blood given by donors into plasma, platelets, and erythrocytes.
