Upon completion of the construction of Rasht-Anzali-Astara railway in its northern Gilan province, Iran will have an access to Europe via Azerbaijan, member of the Iranian parliament's commission Hussein Afzali said.
The construction of the Rasht-Anzali-Astara railway is very important, Afzali added, Trend reports referring to the Iranian parliament’s website.
Azerbaijan will make a half of its investments in the construction of the railway. This will accelerate the construction works, he added.
This railway is essential for the modernization of the North-South Corridor and Iran's economic development. In this regard, the government and parliament must create the corresponding program to attract big investments, he said.
After the railway is commissioned, there will be a connection between the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf.
