Uzbek currency stops falling

Uzbek sum stopped falling and for the first time since July 23 strengthened following the results of trading on the Uzbek Currency Exchange, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

On August 21, the national currency was fixed at around 9379 soums per 1 dollar, while on August 20, the rate was at 9384.

The trading volume more than tripled in just a day. If only $64.8 million was acquired on the exchange on August 20, the figure reached more than $154 million on August 21.

Earlier Trend reported that Central Bank no longer sets prices for the sale and purchase of foreign currency, and this price will be formed independently in the market.

In addition, from August 20, Uzbekistan allowed the sale of foreign currency in cash through exchange offices.
