Iran commissions solar power station at Urmia University

A 400-kilowatt solar power station has been commissioned at Urmia University in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of Urmia University Rahim Hobbenaghi said that the station is set to generate 800 megawatts of energy annually.

He noted that the station will prevent the spread of 503 tons of pollutants to the environment.

"More than 40 billion rials (app. $952,000) have been spent on the construction of the 7,000-square-meter station," he said.

Hobbenaghi added that the station has 1,344 solar panels and seven inverters.
