Azerbaijan discloses number of cars imported from January through August 2019

Azerbaijan imported 2,600 Russian-made cars from January through August 2019, Trend reports referring to Russian media.

In accordance with the estimates, Azerbaijan is among TOP 10 countries in the import of the Russian-made cars and ranks fourth.

Azerbaijan as a whole imported 24,088 cars for the reporting period of 2019. The share of the Russian automobile industry in import is only 10.8 percent.

In total, 25,100 cars were exported from Russia to other countries from January through August, which is 38 percent more than in the same period of 2018.

About 70 percent of the whole export from the Russian Federation account for four countries. Most of the cars were supplied to the Czech Republic – 6,900 cars. Uzbekistan ranked second with 5,200 cars and is followed by Latvia – 3,100 cars.

At the same time, 24,088 cars worth almost 335 million manat ($197 million) were imported into the country from January through September 2019.

Azerbaijan also imported 2,262 trucks worth 36.2 million manat ($21.3 million), which is an increase of 1.7 times and 1.7 times, respectively, and 246 buses worth 27.6 million manat ($16.2 million) which is an increase of 2.5 times and 4.7 times, respectively.

A new automobile plant producing cars under the "Khazar" brand was commissioned in Azerbaijan in 2018, which contributed to a great increase in passenger car production in the country.

The Nakhchivan Automobile Plant, where Lifan cars are assembled, and the Ganja Automobile Plant, where tractors, agricultural machinery, and a number of trucks of Belarusian and Russian companies are produced, also operate in Azerbaijan.
