Spanish Roca Group company (engaged in production of sanitary products) visited Uzbekistan’s city of Bekabad to assess the possibility of creating its own large-scale production of bathroom/sanitary products in the city, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The project would help create jobs and set products for possible export.
Roca Group is a world leader in the manufacture of products for bathrooms: sanitary ceramics, bathtubs, faucets, accessories and special furniture.
Since the beginning of this year, 15 industrial projects have been implemented in Bekabad. As a result, the number of industrial enterprises in the city reached 175. From January through September, excluding metallurgical and cement plants, the Bekabad industry manufactured products worth $18.7 million: almost one and a half times more than in the same period last year.
Several fairly large enterprises created by foreign entrepreneurs are now successfully operating in Bekabad. Among them is the Bekobod-SINTEX fiberglass pipe factory. Chinese investors have invested $7 million in this project and introduced one of the most advanced modern technologies here.
Another Chinese project worth more than $3 million is being implemented by Shandong Shengli Steel in Bekabad. The company engaged in extraction metal suitable for industrial use from slag - waste from Uzbekistan's Uzmetkombinat metallurgical company.
The launch of a joint venture created with the participation of the Indian Beta Drugs Limited pharmaceutical company is at the completion stage. The JV Beta UBK Private International limited will be a plant for the production of drugs for the treatment of cancer.
The amount of capital invested in the project will amount to $4 million. The company's products will begin to flow to pharmacies and medical facilities in Uzbekistan before the end of this year.
