BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 25

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia and Ukraine intend to deepen relations in the field of trade and transportation, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Georgia.

This issue was discussed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Georgia Maya Tskitishvili at a meeting in the UK as part of the Eastern Partnership Summit of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to the Georgian ministry, the parties noted the need for more active cooperation and discussed the possibility of expanding trade between the countries.

During the meeting, the parties agreed that a special bilateral working group shall be created to boost economic relations, especially in trade, logistics and transport sectors.

Georgia and Ukraine established diplomatic relations in July 1992. Since that time, 105 bilateral and multilateral agreements have been signed between the countries.

There is a free trade regime between Georgia and Ukraine.

From January through October 2019, trade between the countries reached over $522 million, which amounted to five percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia over this period.
