Timeframe for opening sewing factory in Azerbaijani district revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 12

By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

A small sewing enterprise will open as part of a project being implemented in Azerbaijan through financial support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in March next year, Head of Azerbaijan’s Association of Women Entrepreneurs Sakina Babayeva told Trend.

“A new factory will be opened in Azerbaijan’s Tovuz district,” Babayeva said.

“Some 120,000 manat ($70,589) have been allocated for the implementation of this project,” the association head noted. “The project is being financed by the Association and SECO. Each party contributes 50 percent of the financial resources. Opening of the new factory will contribute to the creation of over 30 permanent job places.”

Babayeva added that as part of the project, it is expected to create similar facilities in several Azerbaijani regions.

Babayeva noted that in order to develop women’s entrepreneurship, the Association has expanded its network of free consultations on the preparation of business plans and doing business.

“Specialists in the field of entrepreneurship operating in our organization have significantly increased the number of trainings in the regions, and this, according to our observations, gives positive results,” the head of Azerbaijan’s Association of Women Entrepreneurs added.

According to the statistics, over 143,000 women are involved in business activities in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Association of Women Entrepreneurs was established in October 2017 through the support of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
