Some 8,00o cars imported into Iran were cleared through customs, Trend reports via IRNA.
Head of Iran's Customs Administration Mehdi Mirashrafi announced that 13,000 cars were stuck at the customs and some 8,000 of them got cleared.
We're trying to clear the remaining cars through legal channels, he said.
Over the past several years, Iran's government imposed an on-again, off-again ban on car imports, which has damaged businesses and pushed car and car parts prices to high levels.
