Iran rewarding low-consuming power users across country
TEHRAN,Iran, May 5
Iran's Energy Ministry will continue to offer discounts to household users in the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020)that will help reduce the power consumption, official with the ministry, Mostafa Rajabi said, Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.
The Energy Ministry has already rewarded household consumers that reduced their consumption during the last Iranian year (started March 21,2019), by providing them with $38 million worth of discounts on energy bills, he said.
"About 24 million household consumers have reduced their power consumption in the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) and their energy bills have only increased by some 7 percent," he said.
"Meanwhile about 5 million of high-consuming users faced a 16-percent increase in their energy bills," he added.
"The statistics in power industry indicate that around 85 percent of consumers have followed the proper consumption suggestions," he said.
The official advised consumers to reduce power consumption during the day.
