Number of mines to be restored in Iran's Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17

It is planned to restore the activities of 59 mines in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province (southwestern Iran) in the current Iranian year (began from March 20, 2020), said Chairman of the province's Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Sajjad Rustami, Trend reports with reference to the organization's web portal.

According to Rustami, the plan will require 2.26 trillion rials (about $53.8 million) funds. So far, more than 1 trillion rials (about $23.8 million) of these funds have been allocated.

Rustami added that about 5 million tons of mining materials were extracted in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

"With the resumption of activities of 59 mines this year, the extraction of minerals is expected to increase significantly," he said.

The chairman said that so far, 191 mines have been licensed in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province. As many as 91 of them are operating.

Rustami said that the operating mines mainly produce argillite, bauxite, cement raw materials, limestone, flat, heat-resistant soil, silicon, decorative stones.
