Georgia decreases import from Italy

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 15

Trade turnover between Georgia and Italy decreased by 25.9 percent year-on-year from January through June 2020 and amounted to $93.4 million ($125.9 million in 1H2019), Trend reports referring to the National Statistic Office of Georgia (Geostat).

During this period, Georgia exported goods worth $11.6 million to Italy, which is 42.4 percent less than in the same period last year and imported goods worth $81.8 million from Italy, which is 24.2 percent less than last year.

Italy took 9th place among the 10 largest trading partners of Georgia in terms of imports in 1H2020.

In January-June 2020, Georgia imported from Italy the following goods:

Mushroom mycelium, plants, cuttings

Steel structures from ferrous metals and their parts

$2.2 million

Medicines

$2.1 million

Furniture and its parts

$1.8 million

Imports of other goods decreased over this period by 24.7 percent and amounted to $60.5 million.

The external merchandise trade of Georgia amounted to $5.05 billion from January through June 2020, 18.2 percent lower compared to the same period of 2019.
