Copper ores and concentrates claimed first place in the list of top export items of Georgia, while motor cars were the top import commodity in January-July 2020, Trend reports with reference to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
As reported, the share of major commodity groups by export value was as follows: copper ores and concentrates - $391.3 million (22.3 percent of total exports); motor cars - $198.5 million (11.3 percent); and ferroalloys $130.1 million (7.4 percent).
The top import commodities in January-July 2020 by value were motor cars - $383.4 million (9 percent of the total imports); copper ores and concentrates - $290.8 million (6.8 percent); and petroleum and petroleum oils - $278.6 million (6.5 percent ).
In January-July 2020, the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 70 percent.
Georgia’s top trading partners were Turkey ($843.3 million), Russia ($702.1 million) and China ($627.6 million).
Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $6.03 billion in January-July 2020, which is a decrease of 17.6 percent compared to the same period of last year.
