Iran to expand exports of detergent, health and beauty products to African countries

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 26

The Director-General of the Arab and African Department of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran announced the holding of a Commodity Country Desk on trade with a focus on developing the exports of detergent, health and beauty products.

"The country's production and export capacities in the field, as well as export and import capacities of Africa and the most important exporters and importers of these products, were reviewed during the meeting,” Farzad Piltan, the director-general of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO)'s Office of Arabian and African Countries said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"In addition, the records of the export of the aforementioned products from Iran to African countries, the characteristics of the consumer market, and the methods of entering the markets of African countries were examined during the meeting,” he said.

Piltan went on to say that African countries annually import about $2.5 billion worth of detergents and export about $1 billion worth of these products.

“The continent also exports about $ 2.5 billion worth of cosmetics annually to the world and imports about $ 4.5 billion.”

It is worth mentioning that this meeting was held in the presence of representatives of the African Headquarter of the Presidential Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Export Department of Trade Promotion Organization and some companies producing and exporting these products, ILNA reported.
