Business Association of Georgia analyzes factors hindering development of agriculture

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.2

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The main challenge hindering the development of agriculture in Georgia is to consolidate land plots and create big farms, said Business Association of Georgia (BAG), Trend reports via Georgian media.

The Business Association of Georgia conducted a study to reveal the factors hindering the development of agriculture in the country.

“The creation of large farms can save agricultural costs that will increase production and meet demand in the local market as well as develop export markets. Given all this, land fragmentation remains a significant challenge,” the statement reads.

The study also touched the problem of the lack of technology that negatively affects the quantity and quality of products.

Another major problem is the lack of qualified professionals and large companies are forced to invite specialists from abroad, the BAG said.
