Metallurgical production volume up in Azerbaijan

The volume of raw materials produced in the Azerbaijani metallurgical industry amounted to 433.1 million manat ($254.8 million) from January through August 2020, having increased 2.3 times compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

Some 163,200 tons of steel were smelted during the reporting period, which is a decrease of 27.3 percent. Meanwhile, 152,600 tons of rebar were produced in the country (decline of 23.6 percent).

The production of steel pipes increased by 19.8 percent, making up 23,600 tons and the production of primary alloys of unprocessed aluminium decreased by 0.8 percent, equaling 24,000 tons.

Prefabricated building structures made of ferrous metals were produced in the amount of 15.1 million manat ($8.9 million), that is a decrease of 13.6 percent. The production of other structures of ferrous metals made up over 22,300 tons, showing an increase of 45.3 percent.

The production of flexible wires, ropes and bare copper wire amounted to 3,500 tons, indicating a growth of 20.4 percent.

In 2019, the volume of raw materials' production in the metallurgical industry of Azerbaijan amounted to 763.5 million manat ($449.1 million), decreasing by 20 percent compared to 2018.

The production of finished metal products increased by 82.4 percent, surpassing 214.6 million manat ($126.2 million). Thus, an increase of 35.5 percent was recorded throughout the industry, and the total gross production volume amounted to 901.4 million manat ($530.2 million).
