Cotton harvesting has started in Turkmenistan’s Northern region- Dashoguz, Trend reports with reference to State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Some 155,000 hectares of land have been allocated for cotton harvesting in the region, from which it is planned to collect 275,000 tons of cotton. In particular, such cotton varieties as Dashoguz-120, Dashoguz-144, Serdar, S-4727, Jeyhun, 149F, and others are planted in the region.

Some 1,835 trucks and tractors with trailers were allocated for cotton transportation, 43 receiving points, and 9 cotton gins of the Dasoguzpagta production Association of Turkmenistan were prepared.

Also, special laboratories of the Turkmenstandartlary Main State Service are equipped for checking the quality of raw materials.

Due to climatic conditions, the cotton harvest begins later in Dashoguz than in other Turkmen regions.

Turkmenistan is using foreign equipment in its agricultural sector, and in particular, the equipment provided by US companies such as John Deere Walldorf GmbH & Co.KG and Claas. Thus, earlier John Deere company delivered more cotton harvesting machines to Turkmenistan.

In August last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental protection of Turkmenistan and John Deere Walldorf GmbH & Co.KG signed a memorandum for the development of telematic digitalization in the country's agro-industrial sector.

According to the document, in the next few years, John Deere and Claas will deliver brand special equipment for Turkmenistan.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.
