US dev't agency to support investment projects implementation in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Astana International Finance Center (AIFC) and US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) signed an agreement on investment cooperation, Trend reports citing the press office of Kazakhstan’s government.

The agreement was signed following the negotiations held between Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin and CEO of DFC Adam Boehler.

During the negotiations, parties talked about prospects for the development of investment cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, logistics, infrastructure, as well as finance, and technology.

At the same time, the need for priority implementation of projects and initiatives aimed at developing the private sector of Kazakhstan’s economy was emphasized.

The signed agreement provides for joint implementation of investment projects worth up to $1 billion in Kazakhstan through AIFC.

US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is America’s development bank. DFC partners with the private sector to finance solutions to the most critical challenges facing the developing world today.

The Astana International Financial Centre was created by the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev as part of the “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms” national program.

The Centre’s development strategy until 2025 was approved by the Management Council of the AIFC during the council’s meeting on July 2, 2020. In accordance with the strategy, the vision of AIFC is in becoming the leading financial center in the region that includes Central Asia, the Caucasus, EAEU countries, western China, Mongolia, and Eastern Europe.
