By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Only 2-3 percent of agricultural products produced in Iran are exported at present, the deputy head of the National Union of Exporters and Importers of Agricultural Products Sadreddin Niyavarani told the ILNA, Trend reports.

The official emphasized that the exports in this amount don't have any effect on changes in prices in the local market of Iran.

“The increase in the prices of certain products in Iran has nothing to do with Iran's agricultural exports to Russia,” he added.

Niyavarani noted that Iran exported daily more than 100 containers of agricultural products to Russia. At present, this figure is less than 5 containers daily.

According to him, the main part of the exported to Russia is kiwifruit, and very little amount of greens and vegetables are exported to Russia.

The official said that the reason for Iran's decline in agricultural exports to Russia is US sanctions against Iran, rising transport costs and devaluation.

Recently, a number of vegetable products have risen sharply in the Iranian market. Some institutions in Iran, have linked the price increase to increased exports to other countries.

At present, the price of 1 kg of cucumbers in the Iranian market is 122,000 rials (about $2.9), 1 kg of tomatoes - 44,000 rials (about $1.04), 1 kg of onions - 41,000 rials (about $0.97), 1 kg of broccoli - 98,000 rials (about $2.33).
