Turkmenistan increases potato imports from EAEU

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15

Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) exported to Turkmenistan 3,979 tons of potatoes in January 2021, which is 5.2 times more than the same period last year, Trend reports, citing statistics from the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The above-mentioned volume was exported in the amount of $414,206, which is 2.9 times more than the number of potato exports by the EAEU countries to Turkmenistan in January 2020.

In particular, the export was carried out by such EAEU countries as Kazakhstan and Russia. Thus, the share of Kazakhstan in the above-mentioned export amount was $371,542, while Russia's share was -$42,663.

In January 2021, Turkmenistan also supplied dried and leguminous vegetables from Russia.

In particular, during the reporting period, Russia exported 600 kilograms of dried vegetables to Turkmenistan in the amount of $1,414 and 8.7 tons of leguminous vegetables in the amount of $8,006.

Russia increased the export of frozen vegetables to Turkmenistan by 3.4 times from January through July of 2020.

During this period, Russia exported 4,500 tons of frozen vegetables to Turkmenistan, totaling $7,018, which also shows an increase in the number of frozen vegetables exported to Turkmenistan from Russia by 2.7 times compared to the amount for the same period last year.
