France to provide grant to support agriculture in Georgia

The French government will provide a grant of 300,000 euros to the National Agency for Sustainable Land Use and Monitoring under the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Trend reports referring to the Georgian media.

“The grant is intended to support the Georgian National Agency for Sustainable Land Use and Monitoring. This grant program is implemented by the French Development Agency. Land management is a guarantee of successful protection of property rights and promotes private investment, ”the national agency said in a statement.

"France declares its readiness to support Georgia's agriculture," said French Ambassador to Tbilisi Diego Kolas at the opening of the French-Georgian farm Dmanisi Livestock Ltd. The opening was also attended by the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili.

The grant funds will be used to strengthen the capacity of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Monitoring of Georgia. The technical assistance includes the exchange of information with the French Land Agency and the implementation of other successful European practices in Georgia.

The main areas of cooperation: accounting of land resources, development of a land information system, land consolidation, monitoring of land use.
