Iran increases subsidies in budget plan

TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.14

The Iranian parliament's budget commission has increased the subsides in the budget plan for the new Iranian year (starts March 21, 2022), said the Head of Parliament's Budget Commission Hamidreza Hajibabaei, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"The government allocated 17.2 trillion rials (about $40 billion) subsides in the budget plan is but the commission has raised the figure to 25 trillion rials (about $59 billion) to improve people's livelihood," he said.

The purchase guarantee price of wheat has also increased by the commission to 95,000 rials (about $2.2) per kilo to support farmers while additional funds will be allocated to wheat production to prevent import.

Parliament's Budget Commission has also approved keeping the official foreign exchange rate of 42,000 rials per USD for the new Iranian year.
