BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. Tajikistan is planning to increase vegetable oil import by more than 15 percent over the next three years, Trend reports citing the forecast of Tajikistan's main macroeconomic indicators for the period from 2022 through 2024.
The document said that the volume of vegetable oil and fat import will reach 205,000 tons by 2024. The growth in the import will be due to an increase in the country's population, and the demand for the processing industry, including the production of food and confectionery.
The import value of fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin exceeded $42 million over 1Q2022.
Tajikistan are negotiating with foreign investors on the creation of enterprises for the production of vegetable oil and the modernization of existing ones. The cottonseed oil is mainly produced in the country itself.
