BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. Iran’s imports through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province in the north-west of the country amounted to 420,000 tons worth $1.34 billion, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Customs Inspector of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Leili Orangi told IRNA, Trend reports.

The official noted that the imports through the province’s customs for the last year increased by 13 percent in value while decreasing by 5 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

“The main imported goods were various vehicles worth $407 million, equipment and spare parts worth $183 million, chemicals worth $59 million, tobacco worth $52 million, rubber materials worth $52 million, wooden and related products worth $49 million, steel products worth $48 million, spare parts for paving machinery worth $48 million electrical supplies worth $44 million, and cocoa worth $40 million,” Orangi said.

She added that the mentioned goods were imported mainly from Türkiye worth $784 million, the UAE worth $162 million, China worth $124 million, Germany worth $92 million, South Korea worth 28 million, Italy worth $21 million, India worth $15 million, Georgia worth $14 million, Spain worth $14 million, and Japan worth $13 million.

Overall, Iran imported a total of 37.1 million tons of goods worth approximately $59.7 billion for the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 13 percent in volume, while a decrease of 10 percent in volume compared to the preceding year.
