Azerbaijan to participate in the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research meeting

Azerbaijani delegation will participate at the annual meeting of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The Agriculture vice-minister, Bahram Aliyev and the Ministry of Agriculture scientific- agrarian center director, Asad Musayev took part at the meeting, the Ministry reports Trend.

The meeting started its work on April 3 in Tashkent.

The Azerbaijani representatives will present a report on the results of cooperation with the international organizations, parts of CGIAR and with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas in particular.

Representatives from Central Asia, Caucasus, Middle East and CGIAR international organizations - Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical (CIAT), Center of International Forestry Organization Research (CIFOR), Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de MaГ­z y Trigo (CIMMYT), Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP

), International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), ICRISAT, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), International Life cattle Research Institute (ILRI), International Program of Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI), International Rice Research Institute

(IRRI), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Africa Rice Center, International Center for Research of Agricultural- Forestry (ICRAF) will take part at the conference.

The similar meeting has been held in Azerbaijan in 2004 CGIAR- is a strategic alliance of countries, international and regional organizations and private funds, 15 international centers of agricultural research work under its auspices. They cooperate with the national systems of scientific- research institutions, private sector and civil society. This alliance mobilizes different projects in the area of agriculture, poverty struggle, agricultural sector growth stimulation and environment protection.

The meeting will end its work on April 7.
