Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia to Sign Agreement on Railway Project

The Turkish Foreign Ministry informed that the frame agreement on the construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway route, which will connect Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, is to be signed in Tbilisi on February 7th 2007, Trend reports citing Turkish media reports.

The Ministry informed that the project is currently under implementation and will be sanctioned after the completion the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline (BTC). The railway will allow safe passenger and cargo transportation.

The Turkish Prime Minister, Rejeb Tayyip Erdogan, will attend the ceremony to sign the agreement. The construction of the railway will commence in July and will be completed in 2 years.
